Policy on the Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Tools
1. Introduction
This journal is fully committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and human critical thought. As an absolute policy, this journal strictly prohibits the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and AI-assisted technologies (such as ChatGPT, Claude, Large Language Models, and AI-driven translation/editing software) at any stage of the publication process. This prohibition applies universally to all Authors, Editors, and Reviewers.
2. Policy for Authors
Authors must ensure that all submitted manuscripts represent their own intellectual, human creation.
- Content Generation: The use of AI tools to write, draft, or generate text, abstracts, conclusions, or full sections of the manuscript is completely forbidden.
- Data and Images: AI tools must not be used to create, manipulate, or alter research data, charts, graphs, or images.
- Translation and Paraphrasing: The use of AI-driven paraphrasing or automated translation tools to write or rewrite the manuscript is strictly prohibited.
- Consequences: Any manuscript found to have utilized AI tools for content generation will be summarily rejected. If AI usage is discovered post-publication, the article will be retracted immediately in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
3. Policy for Editors
Editors play a critical role in preserving editorial independence and confidentiality.
- Confidentiality: Editors are strictly prohibited from uploading any submitted manuscripts, abstracts, or metadata into AI tools or public LLMs for editing, summarizing, or decision-making purposes. Doing so constitutes a severe breach of confidentiality and intellectual property rights.
- Evaluation: Editorial decisions, pre-screening assessments, and final publication judgments must be based solely on human expertise, critical analysis, and peer-review reports.
4. Policy for Reviewers
Peer review relies on the unique expertise and critical judgment of human scholars.
- Confidentiality and IP: Reviewers must not upload any part of a assigned manuscript into AI tools or LLMs for any reason (including summarizing, text analysis, or language correction). Manuscripts are confidential documents; uploading them to external AI platforms violates this confidentiality.
- Report Writing: Reviewers are strictly forbidden from using AI tools to draft peer-review reports or generate feedback. Review reports must reflect the reviewer’s own critical evaluation and expert opinion.
