PENGARUH MEDIA PEMBELAJARAN TANGRAM TERHADAP KREATIVITAS SISWA PADA PELAJARAN MATEMATIKA KELAS V SD NEGERI 88 PALEMBANG

Abstract


The low level of student creativity in mathematics learning, particularly in the topic of plane geometry, serves as the background for this study. This research aims to examine the effect of using tangram as a learning medium on students’ creativity in mathematics among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 88 Palembang. The study employed an experimental method with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 26 students from Class V.2, selected through simple random sampling. The data collection instrument was an essay test that had been tested for validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination index. Student creativity was measured through pretest and posttest scores, which were analyzed using a paired sample t-test and the N-Gain test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ creativity after the use of tangram media, with the average pretest score at 31.76 and the posttest score at 79.30. Hypothesis testing revealed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a significant effect of tangram media on student creativity. Furthermore, the average N-Gain score was 0.71, which falls into the high category. In conclusion, the use of tangram media can effectively enhance students’ creativity in mathematics learning, particularly in fostering innovative, efficient, flexible, and confident thinking. A practical implication of this study is that teachers can use tangram media as an alternative instructional strategy that is both enjoyable and capable of stimulating students’ creativity in understanding geometric concepts. 

 

Rendahnya kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran Matematika, khususnya pada materi bangun datar, menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media pembelajaran tangram terhadap kreativitas siswa dalam mata pelajaran Matematika di kelas V SD Negeri 88 Palembang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas 26 siswa kelas V.2 yang dipilih secara simple random sampling. Instrumen pengumpulan data berupa soal uraian yang telah diuji validitas, reliabilitas, tingkat kesukaran, dan daya pembeda. Kreativitas siswa diukur melalui hasil pretest dan posttest yang dianalisis menggunakan uji paired sample t-test dan uji N-Gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada kreativitas siswa setelah diberikan perlakuan menggunakan media tangram, dengan nilai rata-rata pretest sebesar 31,76 dan posttest sebesar 79,30. Uji hipotesis menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, yang berarti terdapat pengaruh signifikan penggunaan media tangram terhadap kreativitas siswa. Sementara itu, rata-rata nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,71 termasuk dalam kategori tinggi. Kesimpulan, penggunaan media tangram secara efektif dapat meningkatkan kreativitas siswa dalam pembelajaran Matematika, terutama dalam hal berpikir inovatif, efisien, fleksibel, dan percaya diri. Implikasi praktis dari hasil penelitian ini adalah guru dapat memanfaatkan media tangram sebagai alternatif strategi pembelajaran yang menyenangkan dan menstimulasi kreativitas siswa dalam memahami konsep bangun datar.
