PENGEMBANGAN MODUL PEMBELAJARAN MATEMATIKA DENGAN PENDEKATAN STEM UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KREATIVITAS, DAN BERPIKIR KRITIS SISWA KELAS VIII
Abstract
In the era of global transformation, 21st-century skills such as creativity and critical thinking are essential for students to address complex challenges. However, various studies indicate that these skills among Indonesian junior high school students remain relatively low. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a Mathematics learning module using a STEM approach integrated with the Engineering Design Process on the topic of circles. This study employed a Research and Development method using the Borg and Gall model, limited to the preliminary field testing stage. Data were collected through questionnaires and written tests and analyzed descriptively both quantitatively and qualitatively. The validity test results indicated that the module was highly valid, while the effectiveness test showed moderate improvements in students’ creativity and critical thinking skills. Thus, the developed module is considered valid and suitable for use in Grade VIII Mathematics learning.
Di era transformasi global, keterampilan abad ke-21 seperti kreativitas dan berpikir kritis sangat penting bagi siswa untuk mengatasi tantangan yang kompleks. Namun, berbagai penelitian menunjukkan bahwa keterampilan ini di kalangan siswa SMP Indonesia masih relatif rendah. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan modul pembelajaran Matematika menggunakan pendekatan STEM yang terintegrasi dengan Proses Desain Teknik pada topik lingkaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Penelitian dan Pengembangan dengan model Borg dan Gall, terbatas pada tahap uji lapangan pendahuluan. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan tes tertulis dan dianalisis secara deskriptif baik kuantitatif maupun kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis uji validitas produk didapatkan hasil sangat layak dan layak, sedangkan uji efektivitas pembelajaran didapatkan hasil sedang untuk kreativitas dan berpikir kritis. Oleh karena itu, modul pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian ini mencapai kualifikasi valid dan dinyatakan layak untuk diterapkan dalam pembelajaran Matematika di kelas VIII.
