IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE CLUTCH SYSTEM COMPETENCY IN GRADE XI STUDENTS AT SMK NASIONAL MALANG
Abstract
The low competence of students in the cluctch system material and the less-than-optimal student involvement in practical learning are the main problems in this study. This study aims to improve the competence of the clutch system through the implementation of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model in class XI TKR I at SMK Nasional Malang. The study used a quantitative approach with the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method which was implemented in two cycles, each including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 35 students. Data were collected through tests (pre-test and post-test) to measure the cognitive domain, observation sheets to assess the affective domain, and performance assessments to measure the psychomotor domain. Data analysis was carried out descriptively quantitatively by comparing the improvement in learning outcomes between cycles. The results showed that the implementation of PjBL was able to improve students' overall competence. In the cognitive domain, the average score increased from 72.69 to 74.57 in cycle I and from 71.71 to 75.71 in cycle II. In the affective domain, the average score increased from 71.81% in cycle I to 85.47% in cycle II. Meanwhile, in the psychomotor domain, the average student practical skills increased from 71.67% to 88.60%. This improvement indicates that project-based learning not only improves conceptual understanding but also significantly develops students' attitudes and practical skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model is effective in holistically improving the clutch system competency of vocational high school students. This model is recommended as an innovative learning strategy in vocational education to improve the quality of learning relevant to the needs of the workplace.
