Abstract

Initiated by the Indonesian government at the elementary level, the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) presents strategic chances to develop durable and good eating habits from a young age. This paper attempts to find worldwide research trends on the ideas of food literacy and conscious eating as well as their applicability in the framework of elementary education. Using the VOSviewer program, 95 scientific papers taken from the Google Scholar, Scopus, and Tandfonline databases were examined bibliometrically. While food literacy crosses with issues of nutritional intervention, nutritional literacy, and elementary school-aged children, the study of keyword networks finds a high association between mindful eating and issues including obesity, emotional eating, and psychological resilience. Nonetheless, the idea of conscious eating is more usually used in the framework of adult education and emphasizes on sensible eating habits. Research on primary education, especially that done in Indonesia are relatively scant. This result suggests that, using an instructional and reflective approach, the combination of food literacy and mindful eating into the MBG program has the potential to increase efficacy. This study suggests that components of nutritional interventions in primary schools be mindful eating and food literacy-based learning tools developed. This paper offers academics, legislators, and teachers a conceptual and empirical basis for developing evidence-based plans for the sustainable enhancement of the MBG program.
