Analisis Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis Siswa Sekolah Dasar Pada Materi Geometri Bangun Datar

Abstract


The background of this study is based on the low mathematical problem solving skills of elementary school students. This is because students only memorize formulas without understanding the concepts learned. This study aims to analyze the mathematical problem solving ability of elementary school students with Polya's problem solving steps. The method used in this research is descriptive quantitative method with data collection techniques through math problem tests and interviews. The research was conducted in one of the elementary schools in Purwakarta. The research subjects consisted of 28 fifth grade students. The results showed that the mathematical problem solving ability of elementary school students was still low. Students are still not accustomed to working on HOTS problems and using Polya's steps in math problems. It can be concluded that there is a need for strategic and effective teaching from teachers or educators by using Polya's steps and giving HOTS questions more often so that students can improve their problem solving skills in understanding mathematical concepts in depth and encourage students to be more active in learning activities.
