Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of a power assist system on the torque and power performance of a motorcycle with a 2PC-type engine. The research focuses on testing the motorcycle's acceleration with and without the power assist to identify the resulting differences. This study contributes to the understanding of the impact of power assist systems on the engine performance of motor vehicles, particularly on standard motorcycles where this technology is relatively new. The research was conducted using an experimental method with a dynamometer to measure the torque and power of a Yamaha Grand Filano 125cc motorcycle with a 2PC-type engine, both with and without the power assist system. This experimental research method is a quantitative method used to determine the effect of independent variables on dependent variables to analyze the effect of performance produced on a 2PC gasoline engine with and without using power assist. Data was collected within an engine speed range of 2700-7000 rpm. The trial was performed by gathering data on the differences in power and torque between the two conditions. The results indicate that the use of the power assist system enhances the motorcycle's torque and power performance, especially during the initial acceleration phase.
