COMPARATIVE STUDY OF THE USE OF PERTAMAX GREEN 95 AND SHELL V-POWER ON THE PERFORMANCE OF K97 ENGINE TYPE

Abstract


This study aims to compare the effects of Pertamax Green 95 and Shell V Power fuels on exhaust emissions and engine performance of the K97 engine type in Honda PCX 150 vehicles. The research method used was direct experimentation employing the TEXA GASBOX emission tester and Super Dyno 50LE for performance measurement. The parameters measured include CO, CO₂, HC, O₂, HCcorr, and Lambda, as well as power (hp) and torque (Nm). The results showed that Pertamax Green 95 produced lower CO and HC emissions than Shell V-Power, indicating cleaner combustion due to the oxygen content in bioethanol. The high Lambda value of Pertamax Green signifies a very lean combustion, whereas Shell V-Power showed more stable burning characteristics. In terms of performance, Pertamax Green 95 delivered a maximum power of 9.17 hp and torque of 8.85 Nm, slightly higher than Shell V-Power. Therefore, Pertamax Green 95 is proven to be more environmentally friendly without sacrificing engine performance. This research provides an initial contribution to the development of bioethanol fuels in Indonesia and opens opportunities for further studies on long-term fuel consumption and engine compatibility.

 

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan pengaruh penggunaan Pertamax Green 95 dan Shell V-Power terhadap emisi gas buang dan performa mesin tipe K97 pada kendaraan Honda PCX 150. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen langsung menggunakan alat uji emisi TEXA GASBOX dan uji performa dyno dengan Super Dyno 50LE. Nilai Lambda Pertamax Green yang tinggi menunjukkan pembakaran yang sangat lean, sedangkan Shell V-Power menunjukkan karakteristik pembakaran yang lebih stabil. Dari sisi performa, Pertamax Green 95 memberikan daya maksimum 9,17 hp dan torsi maksimum 8,85 Nm, sedikit lebih tinggi dibandingkan Shell V Power. Dengan demikian, Pertamax Green 95 terbukti lebih ramah lingkungan dan tidak mengorbankan performa mesin. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi awal bagi pengembangan bahan bakar bioetanol di Indonesia dan membuka peluang studi lanjutan terhadap konsumsi jangka panjang dan kompatibilitas mesin.
