Kohesi Leksikal dan Gramatikal dalam Kalimat Kompleks pada Novel Dua Garis Biru

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of lexical and grammatical cohesion in complex sentences contained in the novel Dua Garis Biru by Gina S. Noer. This study is a qualitative descriptive study that uses a syntactic approach. This research method uses a reading method with note-taking techniques. The data source that is the focus of this study is complex sentences in the novel Dua Garis Biru. The results of this study show that there are 30 data in the form of complex sentences consisting of 33 lexical cohesion data divided into
several types, namely 16 collocations, 11 repetitions, 3 hyponyms, 2 synonyms, and 1 antonym. While grammatical cohesion is 43 data divided into several types, namely 15 references, 3 ellipsis, 6 substitutions, and 19 conjunctions. The data shows that the use of lexical cohesion is more dominant in collocation and grammatical cohesion in conjunction. In lexical cohesion there is no element of lexical equivalence cohesion, whereas the element of grammatical cohesion is found in all the elements in the complex sentences in the novel Dua Garis Biru.
