Mengembangkan kompetensi global melalui Model Service Learning

Abstract


Abad ke-21 dengan segala perkembangan teknologi dan globalisasinya berhasil menghilangkan sekat antar negara, budaya, dan ras, sehingga memaksa kita untuk hidup berdampingan dengan berbagai individu yang memiliki latar belakang yang berbeda. Meskipun begitu, tidak semua orang memiliki kepekaan yang tinggi terhadap perbedaan individu tersebut. Tujuan studi ini adalah mengkaji kompetensi global sebagai salah satu keterampilan yang dapat membantu orang-orang untuk hidup harmonis dengan suasana interkultural dan untuk menelisik inovasi pembelajaran model service learning dalam membangun kompetensi global. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan studi literatur dengan menganalisis beberapa kajian yang berkaitan dengan topik pembahasan yaitu kompetensi global dan service learning. Peneliti menggunakan sumber data sekunder. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa model service learning cocok untuk membangun kompetensi global peserta didik, karena sintaks dalam model service learning yaitu preparation, action, reflection, dan celebration sesuai dengan indikator kompetensi global. Lebih lanjut, model service learning dipandang tepat karena model ini memberikan kesempatan peserta didik untuk melakukan aksi nyata dalam memberikan pelayanan di masyarakat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah model service learning dipandang mampu menginternalisasikan kompetensi global karena model ini berbasis pelayanan yang akan membuat peserta didik bertindak secara nyata membuat solusi pelayanan untuk menciptakan kehidupan yang harmonis.

Abstract

The 21st century with all its technological developments and globalization had succeeded in removing barriers between countries, cultures and races, thus forced us to be able to live side by side with other individuals who have different backgrounds. Nevertheless, not everyone had a high sensitivity to these individual differences. The purpose of this study was to examine global competence as one of the skills that can help people to live in harmony with the intercultural atmosphere and to investigate service learning as an innovation in building global competence. This research used a literature study method by analyzing several studies related to the topic of discussion, which was global competence and service learning. Researchers used secondary data sources. The results of the study showed that the service learning model was suitable for building students' global competencies, because the service learning mode’s syntaxl, preparation, action, reflection, and celebration, were in accordance with global competency indicators. Furthermore, the service learning model was considered appropriate because this model provided opportunities for students to take real action in providing services in the community. The conclusion was the service learning model was considered capable of internalizing global competencies because this model was service-based which would make students act in real terms to create service solutions to create a harmonious life.
