Pengaruh Permainan Tradisional Terhadap Kemampuan Motorik Kasar Murid Kelas 5 SDN Betokan 1 Demak

Abstract


Gross motor skills are an important aspect in the development of primary school-aged children as they support physical skills, coordination and active participation in learning. Although many theories state the importance of learning that involves physical activity and games, practice in the field shows that physical education learning is still monotonous and lacks innovation, especially the use of traditional games in elementary schools. This gap has an impact on the less optimal motor development of students. This study aims to examine the effect of traditional game-based learning on the gross motor skills of fifth-grade students of the State Elementary School of Betokan 1 Demak. The study used a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 27 students. The motor test instrument consists of a shuttle run test, throw & catch the ball, positional balance stand, and 30-meter sprint, which has been tested for validity (r = 0.87) and reliability (α = 0.93). Data analysis used a t-test with a normality test as a prerequisite. The results showed a significant increase in gross motor skills after treatment, with a t-count value of 7.575 > t-table 2.06. The average posttest score of 75.74 was higher than the pretest of 66.85, with an increase of 13%. In conclusion, learning traditional games such as Gobak Sodor, Bentengan, Engklek, and Poisonous Balls proved effective in improving students' gross motor skills. The practical implication is that traditional games can be integrated into physical education learning as a contextual and fun approach that suits the characteristics of elementary school students.
