Meningkatkan Keterampilan Membaca Pemahaman Siswa Menggunakan Model PBL Kombinasi Talking Stick dan Picture & Picture

Abstract


Reading comprehension skills are a crucial foundation in primary education, significantly impacting students' academic achievement across various subjects. However, many elementary school students still struggle to understand reading because learning tends to be teacher-centered, and there is a lack of innovative learning models. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of combining the Problem Based Learning (PBL), Talking Stick, and Picture & Picture models in improving reading comprehension skills and learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Benua Anyar 9 Banjarmasin. The research used a two-cycle Classroom Action Research (CAR) method with 12 students as subjects. The procedure includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The instruments, which consist of observation, learning outcome tests, and documentation, are analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The research results show a significant improvement in reading comprehension skills and learning outcomes; the percentage of students who achieved mastery increased from 33% before the intervention to 92% in cycle II. The PBL model, combined with Talking Stick and Picture & Picture, effectively improves reading comprehension and learning outcomes. The implication of this research is the need for the sustainable development of innovative and collaborative learning models in elementary schools to improve student literacy and optimize academic achievement.
