Abstract

Advances in technology and education demand great effort to learn knowledge in depth. However, for reasons of practicality and efficiency, much of the material learnt is covered in less depth or with low frequency. This will limiting the understanding and meaningful learning does not achieved. Cognitive bias such as the curse of knowledge and the illusion of truth effect, reduce the quality of the learning process leading to less than optimal learning. Modern education must overcome these obstacles through active, collaborative and globally relevant learning. The use of learning strategies such as theory-based learning followed by repetitive simulated and real-world practice is important to increase student engagement. To support this, a Sequential-Conditioned Pattern Recognition (SCPR) model was developed, with basic PLC programming as the context. The topic of PLC programming was chosen as it is an important aspect in industrial automation. The results of material validation reached 93.70%, media validation 93.85%, and written question trial on big group is 85.00%. The overall average shows a feasibility level of 90.85% which indicates that the basic PLC programming module is declared very feasible.
