ALSUNIYAT: Jurnal Penelitian Bahasa, Sastra, dan Budaya Arab is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal that publishes original research in Arabic language, literature, and culture. The journal aims to disseminate scholarly findings that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, theoretical development, methodological innovation, and practical understanding in these fields.
ALSUNIYAT accepts Original Research Articles, including empirical research, systematic literature reviews (SLR), and bibliometric analyses, provided that submissions demonstrate originality, methodological rigor, and a clear contribution to scholarship in the journal's focus and scope.
Original Research Articles
Original Research Articles report original scholarly findings obtained through systematic investigation and rigorous analysis. The journal welcomes quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods studies, as well as systematic analyses of existing literature and scholarly publication data.
The following research approaches are eligible for consideration:
- Empirical Research: Studies based on primary or secondary data, including experimental and quasi-experimental studies, surveys, case studies, ethnographic research, classroom action research, discourse analysis, corpus-based studies, and research and development.
- Systematic Literature Reviews (SLR): Studies that systematically identify, select, evaluate, and synthesize relevant scholarly literature through transparent and clearly defined procedures. Manuscripts must explain their research questions, information sources, search strategies, eligibility criteria, selection procedures, and methods of data extraction and synthesis.
- Bibliometric Analyses: Studies that quantitatively examine scholarly publications to identify research trends, publication patterns, influential authors and sources, citation relationships, collaboration networks, and thematic or intellectual structures. Manuscripts must report their data sources, search strategies, selection criteria, data processing procedures, and analytical techniques.
Regardless of the research approach, submissions must present a clearly defined research problem, appropriate theoretical or conceptual foundations, a transparent and rigorous methodology, systematic analysis, and a discussion of findings in relation to relevant scholarship. Manuscripts must demonstrate a meaningful scholarly contribution rather than merely describe data or summarize existing publications.
ALSUNIYAT welcomes research on Arabic language teaching and learning, Arabic linguistics and applied linguistics, Arabic language skills and assessment, curriculum and instructional materials, educational technology in Arabic language education, discourse and corpus studies, translation, Arabic literary criticism, Arabic poetry and prose, literary history, and Arab cultural studies.
Manuscript Structure and Requirements
Manuscripts must comply with the journal's current Author Guidelines. Articles should be written in Arabic or English and generally contain approximately 3,000–7,000 words, including tables, figures, notes, references, and appendices intended for publication.
The abstract must contain 100–200 words and be accompanied by three keywords. Authors must follow the journal's prescribed manuscript format and use APA 7th Edition for citations and references. The reference list must contain at least 20 references, with a minimum of 80% drawn from scientific journal articles.
The manuscript structure should reflect the research design. Empirical studies generally include the Title, Author Information, Abstract, Keywords, Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions, and References. Systematic literature reviews should additionally explain the literature search, eligibility criteria, study selection, data extraction, and synthesis procedures. Bibliometric analyses should describe the bibliographic data sources, search strategy, selection criteria, data cleaning, analytical procedures, and relevant visualization methods.
Authors must also comply with the journal's requirements for acknowledgments, AI-assisted technologies declarations, funding information, author contributions, and conflict of interest statements, where applicable under the journal's submission policy.
Manuscript Eligibility and Editorial Evaluation
ALSUNIYAT considers manuscripts that have not been previously published and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal. All submissions must fall within the journal's focus and scope and comply with its publication ethics requirements.
Standalone narrative literature reviews, conceptual essays, theoretical discussions without a clearly defined research methodology, opinion articles, and book reviews are not accepted as standard manuscript types under this policy.
Each submission undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its relevance to the journal, originality, scholarly significance, methodological appropriateness, compliance with the Author Guidelines, and adherence to publication ethics. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening proceed to the journal's double-blind peer-review process.
Final publication decisions are based on the originality and significance of the research contribution, methodological rigor, analytical quality, relevance to Arabic language, literature, and cultural studies, and overall scholarly merit. The journal reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not meet these standards.
