Maria Listiyanti

Abstract

The curriculum is not only concerning substance or learning instruction, but it also has a social relation with the external dimension. Curriculum change complies with the change in society. However, oftentimes in Indonesia, the development of curriculum does not take the presence of social and economic structure of society into consideration. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the curriculum 2006 and 2013 using a human development approach. This approach shapes students with three main competencies; thinking skills, technical creativity, and critical attitude toward socio-economic structure affecting their lives. A literature study is applied in this research. The result of this research suggests considering the socio-economic situation of society to develop the curriculum. The social economic gap among regions in Indonesia could be mitigated with the development of a particular service curriculum as a transition before applying the national curriculum.
