SELF-ESTEEM STUDENT ON MINAHASA SUBCULTURE

Abstract


Self-esteem is a basic need that must be met. Various ways are done to be able to meet the needs of self-esteem. The involvement of cultural institutions in fulfilling self-esteem is closely related. This study examines the description of self-esteem in the Minahasa subculture, namely Tonsea, Tombulu, Tontemboan, Toulour, and Mongondow. The main respondents in this study were Manado State University students in semesters II, IV, and VI in the 2022/2023 academic year, totaling 195 students. The instrument used in this research is Coopersmith's self-esteem inventory. Descriptive test is used to determine the description of student self-esteem in the Minahasa subculture. The results of the study found that most of the students' self-esteem in the Minahasa subculture was in the moderate category, in other words that the need for self-esteem in Minahasa students had been fulfilled. Implications for education in Minahasa so that self-esteem can be developed by utilizing the richness of Minahasa culture. Suggestions for other research to examine self-esteem in relation to the philosophy of life and ritual practices in a culture
