OFF-TASK BEHAVIOR OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN BANDA ACEH AND ACEH BESAR

Abstract


Abstract: Banda Aceh is the provincial capital surrounded by Aceh Besar district. This could have an impact on the learning process followed by students.Student behavior that shows it has nothing to do with the learning process can hinder learning objectives. This research aims to describe verbal, motoric, solitary and inactivity off-task behavior in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar high schools. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive research type. The population in this study was 12422 high school students from Banda Aceh and 9668 from Aceh Besar. The research sample consisted of 275 Banda Aceh High School students and 175 Aceh Besar High School students using cluster random sampling techniques. The instrument used to collect research data was adopting Widiastuti's (2019) off-task behavior questionnaire, which consisted of 30 items. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using a percentage formula. Based on the results of descriptive analysis, the results obtained were 1) 38% of Banda Aceh High School students and 45% of Aceh Besar High School students carried out verbal off-task behavior; 2) 22% of Banda Aceh High School students and 31% of Aceh Besar High School students engage in off-task motor behavior; 3) 55% of Banda Aceh High School students and 54% of Aceh Besar High School students engage in solitary off-task behavior; 4) 31% of Banda Aceh High School students and 39% of Aceh Besar High School students engage in off-task inactivity behavior. So it can be concluded that 1) less than half of Banda Aceh High School students and Aceh Besar High School students engage in verbal off-task behavior. 2) a small portion of Banda Aceh High School students engage in off-task motoric behavior, while less than half of Aceh Besar High School students engage in off-task motoric behavior. 3) more than half of Banda Aceh High School students behave in solitary off-task behavior, while less than half of Aceh Besar High School students behave in solitary off-task behavior. 4) less than half of Banda Aceh High School students and Aceh Besar High School students engage in off-task inactivity behavior.
