Assimilation: Indonesian Journal of Biology Education (AIJBE) published a scientific paper on the results of the study/research and review of the literature in the sphere of biology education includes:

1. Learning strategies/methods/models: cover 21st-century learning, STEM, local wisdom, and education for sustainable development, enriched with outdoor and experiential learning to strengthen student character and promote deep learning.
2. Learning media: include the development and effectiveness of instructional media, modified practicum tools, ICT, and AI-enhanced learning media that support meaningful understanding and character formation.

The acceptance or rejection of articles will be decided by the editorial boards based the review results supplied by the reviewers.

There are no communications between authors and editors concerning the rejection decision.

Authors whose papers are rejected will be informed with the reasons of the rejection.

Publication Frequency

This journal will be published three times a year in the following months: March, July, and November. Every issue consist of 10 articles and therefore every volume has 20 articles/reviews.

Assimilation: Indonesian Journal of Biology Education promotes research in the field of biology education, including such areas as learning strategy, learning media, assessment, teaching materials, curriculum, and teacher professional development in all level of education (primary, secondary, and higher education) with particular respect to Indonesia, but not limited to authorship or topical coverage within the region.

Contributions are expected from scholars, researchers, and practitioners of education.

As far as the criteria for evaluating and accepting submissions is concerned, a rigorous review process will be used. Submitted papers will, prior to the formal review, be screened so as to ensure their suitability and adequacy to the journal. In addition, initial quality control will be performed, so as to ensure matters such as language, style of references and others, comply with the journal´s style.

The publication of articles in peer-reviewed journals issued by Assimilation: Indonesian Journal of Biology Education (AIJBE) represents an ongoing effort to advance and disseminate scholarly knowledge. Such publications reflect the quality and integrity of the work produced by authors and the institutions supporting them. Peer-reviewed articles uphold the principles of the scientific method; therefore, clear standards of ethical conduct must be observed by all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and the scholarly community.
The publication of scholarly work is a collaborative process grounded in trust, transparency, and accountability. Peer review plays a vital role in assessing research quality and ensuring that published articles make meaningful contributions to the advancement of science education research. AIJBE is committed to upholding a fair, transparent, and independent editorial process that is free from discrimination, bias, or inappropriate influence.
AIJBE is committed to ensuring that advertising, reprint services, or other commercial sources of revenue do not influence editorial decisions. The Editorial Board will also facilitate communication with other journals and publishers when necessary to support ethical and transparent editorial practices.

Editorial decisions in AIJBE are based solely on the scholarly merit of submitted manuscripts, including originality, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, relevance to the journal's scope, and contribution to the field. AI systems cannot be listed as authors because authorship requires responsibility for the content, approval of the final manuscript, and the ability to respond to questions regarding the work. If AI tools are used during the writing process, authors must clearly disclose how the tools were applied. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content, including any material generated with AI assistance. AI may be used only for supportive purposes, such as improving language or readability, and must not replace the authors' intellectual contribution. The use of AI for data analysis or interpretation of research results is not permitted. In addition, generative AI should not be used to create images or visual materials for publication unless it forms an explicit and transparent part of the research methodology. Any use of AI during the peer review process must also be handled responsibly to protect the confidentiality and integrity of the evaluation process. Also, editors and reviewers are prohibited from using AI tools in ways that compromise manuscript confidentiality or intellectual property, including uploading unpublished manuscripts to AI systems that store or reuse content.

Authors publishing in AIJBE retains copyright of their work. All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) license, which permits sharing and adaptation with appropriate attribution and under the same licensing terms.

Papers submitted to the Applied Indonesian Journal of Biology Education (AIJBE) must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. AIJBE strictly prohibits any forms of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, text recycling, and redundant publication.

All submitted manuscripts are subjected to a rigorous screening for plagiarism before entering the peer-review process. The journal utilizes Turnitin to verify the originality of the text.

• Maximum Similarity Index: The overall similarity score must not exceed 20%.
• Single Source Match: The similarity from a single publication source must be less than 3%.
• Action on Violation: If a manuscript exceeds the tolerated similarity threshold or indicates clear plagiarism, it will be immediately rejected, and the authors will be notified. In severe cases of academic dishonesty, the journal reserves the right to notify the authors' home institutions.

All manuscripts must be original, written in high-quality academic English, and prepared according to the journal's Author Guidelines and article template.

1. Research Article
A full report of an original empirical study in biology education, such as quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, classroom action research, or research and development studies. Research articles should address one or more areas within the journal's Focus and Scope: learning strategies/methods/models, learning media, assessment, teaching materials, curriculum, teacher professional development, and student character-oriented learning, at primary, secondary, or higher education level.

2. Review Article
A critical and well-structured review of the literature on a topic within the journal's scope, for example a systematic literature review, scoping review, meta-analysis, or bibliometric analysis. Review articles must describe the search strategy, databases, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the method of analysis, and must identify gaps and implications for biology education research and practice.

Language: English only.

Originality: The manuscript must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. It is screened with Turnitin before peer review; the overall similarity must not exceed 20%, and the similarity from a single source must be below 3% (see the Plagiarism Policy).

Abstract and keywords: abstract of [150 to 250 words] and [3 to 5] keywords.

References: [at least 25] references, mostly recent primary sources (journal articles), cited in [APA 7th edition style] and managed with a reference manager such as Mendeley.
Tables and figures: numbered, titled, and cited in the text. Figures and images must accurately represent the original data and be submitted in high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

Research ethics: studies involving human participants must comply with relevant ethical standards, including appropriate approval and informed consent, where applicable.
Disclosures: authors must disclose conflicts of interest and all sources of funding, and include a data availability statement in the manuscript.

The editors review each submitted comment within [14] days. A comment that is relevant and constructive is sent to the corresponding author, who is invited to respond within [30] days. Depending on the editors' decision, the comment and the author's response may be published as a "Letter to the Editor" or "Comment and Response" and linked to the original article. Comments that are abusive, off-topic, commercial, or unsupported by evidence will not be published.

3. Concerns about research or publication ethics
Comments that raise concerns about research integrity or publication ethics, such as plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, authorship disputes, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or inappropriate use of artificial intelligence, are handled under the journal's procedures for allegations of misconduct, following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) framework. Such concerns are treated confidentially and fairly. 4. Corrections by authors

Policy on the Use of GenAI

AIJBE recognizes that generative AI (GenAI) tools can support certain stages of manuscript preparation. Their use must follow the principles of transparency, accountability, and research integrity. This policy applies to authors, reviewers, and editors.

1. Authorship and Accountability

• AI tools cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work, approve the final manuscript, or answer questions about it.
• Authors remain fully responsible and accountable for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content, including text, data, figures, and citations that were generated or edited with AI assistance.
• AI must be used under direct human supervision. Authors must critically review and revise all AI output before submission.

2. Transparency and Disclosure

Any use of AI tools in writing the manuscript must be stated in the manuscript itself, and the authors must confirm the role in which the AI was used.

What to disclose:

• The name and version of the tool
• The role of the AI and the purpose for which it was used (for example, language editing or another permitted use listed in Section 3)
• The extent of its contribution to the work, with confirmation that its use was limited to the permitted uses in Section 3

• In the Acknowledgements
• In the Methods section, when AI was used for analysis or coding
• In a separate AI declaration placed before the References

Example: "The authors used [tool name and version] for [role, e.g., language editing] during the preparation of this manuscript. The authors confirm that the AI was used only for the permitted purpose(s) stated here, reviewed and edited the output, and take full responsibility for the content of the publication."

3. Permissible Uses (with Disclosure)
AI may be used for the following supportive purposes, provided the specific role of the AI is stated in the manuscript, and the authors verify the results:

• Language and grammar editing to improve clarity and readability
• Drafting non-critical sections of the manuscript, which authors must then revise
• Brainstorming ideas and outlining
• Data analysis or visualization, only when the results can be verified and reproduced by humans and the methods are described
• Summarizing literature, with checks for accuracy and proper citation

4. Prohibited Uses
The following uses are not allowed:

• Fabricating data, results, or references
• Presenting AI-generated content as original work without attribution
• Using AI for core intellectual tasks, such as formulating hypotheses, designing the study, interpreting findings, or drawing conclusions
• Uploading unpublished manuscripts or review reports to AI tools that store or reuse content (applies to editors and reviewers, to protect confidentiality and intellectual property)
• Using AI to misrepresent methods, results, or conclusions

5. Consequences of Misuse
Violations of this policy may be handled as research misconduct. Possible actions include:

• Rejection of the submission
• Retraction of a published article
• A ban on future submissions to AIJBE
• Notification of the author's institution and relevant ethics bodies
• This policy will be reviewed and updated periodically as AI technology and publishing standards evolve.
