A Comparative Study of the Implementation of the Waldorf Approach Model and Art Learning in Developing Early Childhood Creativity

Abstract


This study examines differences in learning approaches between Waldorf education and art learning at RA Al-Mutaqien Tasikmalaya and their influence on early childhood creativity development. Using a qualitative comparative design, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the Waldorf approach provides more holistic creativity stimulation by allowing children to freely imagine, explore natural materials, and engage in artistic activities without academic pressure, with art integrated into daily learning experiences. In contrast, art learning at RA Al-Mutaqien is structured and creative but offers more limited opportunities for exploration due to curriculum demands. These differences arise because Waldorf emphasizes child-centered and holistic learning, while RA Al-Mutaqien prioritizes curriculum-based competency achievement. The study concludes that integrating selected Waldorf principles can enrich creative learning experiences and support holistic child development.
