Abstract

Self-confidence plays a vital role in Arts and Culture learning because it determines students' courage to be creative, express ideas, and present their work openly. However, in practice, many students lack confidence because they fear making mistakes and worry that their work will not meet visual standards. This condition creates psychological barriers that hinder the creative process. This study aims to describe the process of utilizing Canva's digital features in Cultural Arts learning and analyze how these features function as scaffolding to foster the self-confidence of sixth-grade students at the State Elementary School of Ciptamuda. The research used a qualitative case study approach, including observation, interviews, and documentation, and data analysis following the Miles and Huberman procedure. The results showed that during learning, the Template, Elements, and Undo-Redo features in Canva served as a psychological support structure, providing students with a sense of security when creating their work. The availability of Templates reduces anxiety when starting a design, while the Undo feature lets students make revisions without fear of mistakes. This has an impact to foster their courage to improvise, express visual ideas, and present their work in front of the class. In addition, Canva facilitates independent and collaborative design exploration, thereby increasing participation and the quality of the work. Challenges such as limited devices and internet connectivity are still encountered, but they do not significantly hinder student engagement. Thus, Canva not only enriches the Arts and Culture learning experience but has also proven effective as digital scaffolding in building students' confidence.
