Interactive Digital Comics in Mathematics Learning: A Case Study on Developing Numeracy Literacy in Primary School Student

Abstract


This study aims to describe the implementation of digital comics presented through an interactive panel in mathematics learning to enhance the numeracy literacy of elementary school students. The research employed a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study design conducted at SDN Sertajaya 05 Cikarang. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that digital comics developed through a structured storyboard effectively transformed abstract mathematical concepts into more concrete, visual, and easily comprehensible representations. The interactive panel provided a more engaging learning experience by allowing students to navigate, zoom in, and respond to digital quizzes through touch-based features. Students demonstrated increased motivation, participation, and confidence in completing numeracy tasks. Teachers perceived the media as effective and aligned with current pedagogical needs, although challenges remained, particularly in digital literacy and the time required for media development. Supportive infrastructure especially the government provided interactive panel digital a crucial role in enabling successful implementation. Overall, the study concludes that digital comics integrated with interactive panels hold strong potential for improving numeracy literacy and can be recommended as an innovative learning medium for elementary education.
