Creative Tourism Delivery in Action: A Comparative Study of Phuket and Bandung

Naomi Nethania

Abstract

Creative tourism is one of the fastest-growing tourism trends in recent years. This happens due to the increasing public interest in unique and active tourism experiences. Braga in Bandung and Phuket Old Town in Phuket are two destinations that apply the concept of creative tourism. This research aims to compare how the two destinations deliver their creative tourism. This research uses a qualitative study method by conducting in-depth observations and a literature review. The data obtained from observations were then analyzed qualitatively and associated with existing facts in other studies. The results show that these two destinations similarly convey the concept of creative tourism, except that Braga in Bandung focuses more on history, art and creativity. At the same time, Phuket Old Town emphasizes cuisine and culture. From this research, creative tourism can be delivered in various ways. Regardless, in the end, these many approaches will remain connected and unaffected by event sponsorship, networking, strengthening partnerships, and creative entrepreneurship. The most important thing to delivery the creative tourism concept is to utilize unique and interesting local elements.
