Design and Development of Questionnaires for Measuring School Climate and Achievement Emotions in Philippine Public Elementary Schools

Abstract


This study focuses on the design and development of two culturally relevant instruments for Philippine public elementary schools: the School Climate Questionnaire (SCQ) and the Achievement Emotions Questionnaire (AEQ). Rooted in established frameworks (the Organizational Climate Descriptive Questionnaire (OCDQ) and Pekrun’s AEQ) the instruments were adapted through stakeholder consultations to ensure contextual appropriateness. The SCQ measures principal and teacher behaviors influencing school climate, while the AEQ captures pupils' emotional experiences across academic settings. This study offers foundational tools for future research and organizational development, supporting data-driven strategies to improve school environments and student well-being in the Philippine educational context.
